The hemp and jute carpets really made the home more cozy.

I. Daily Basic Maintenance

High-frequency vacuuming

Use the vacuum cleaner at least once or twice a week to clean the dust in the crevices. Avoid allowing the dust to get embedded in the fibers and harden or turn black. Do not use the roller brush type strong suction head as it is prone to snagging threads and causing fraying. The flat suction head is the most reliable option.

Regularly turn over and switch positions

Turn the carpet over once every 1-2 months, or change its direction, to ensure more even distribution of force and wear, and prevent obvious depressions or color changes in areas that are frequently stepped on.

Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

Direct sunlight can make natural fibers brittle and fade. Try to draw the curtains at the window or move them occasionally to avoid direct sunlight.

Stay away from a large amount of moisture.

Do not lay it in the bathroom, on the open balcony's rain shelter area, or step on it barefoot with water. Dampness can cause mold growth, produce unpleasant odors, and lead to deformation and cracking.

II. Emergency Cleaning for Stains (Core: A small amount of water + Quick Absorption)

Sisal and jute must never be washed or soaked in water on a large scale; otherwise, they will shrink, deform and develop mold spots.

Ordinary dust, footprints

Gently wipe with a slightly damp cloth, then immediately use a dry towel to absorb the moisture and open the window to air dry.

Juice stains, coffee stains, tea stains, etc. of liquid nature

Step 1: Immediately use a tissue / dry cloth to press and absorb the moisture, do not rub back and forth. The more you rub, the larger the area will get.

Step 2: Use a small amount of water + a little neutral detergent (laundry detergent / dish soap diluted), and gently wipe with a cotton swab or a soft cloth.

Step 3: Wipe it again with a clean cloth, and then thoroughly dry it with a hair dryer.

Oil stains, sauces

First, sprinkle a little cornstarch and baking soda to absorb the grease. Let it stand for 10 to 20 minutes, then wipe it off and clean it thoroughly. Then, perform a gentle local cleaning, but do not rinse directly with water.

Hair, pet fur

Use the electrostatic dust removal brush and the hair-removing roller to sweep it once. It's more effective than a vacuum cleaner.

III. Deep Cleaning

Just use the local dry cleaning powder / plant fiber-specific cleaner. Apply it thinly as per the instructions, let it sit for a while, and then wipe it off.

Never machine-wash, never scrub vigorously by dragging the cloth, and never expose to direct sunlight for drying.

If it has already started to mildew, wipe it gently with diluted white vinegar to kill the mold, and then let it completely dry.

Four. Utilize simple tricks to make your home more cozy and easier to maintain.

Prefers a soft foot feel: You can add a thin anti-slip pad underneath, which is both gentle and moisture-proof, and doesn't affect the appearance.

For the entrance and door area: Use small entry mats to prevent dirt and sand from directly stepping on the sisal flooring.

Avoid sharp objects: High-heeled shoes with thin soles, pets with sharp claws can easily snag the threads. When small hairs appear, use scissors to trim them smoothly; do not pull them forcefully.
